Interview with Elżbieta Sąsiadek-Andrzejczak, PhD, Eng. in MDPI Materials
We are pleased to announce that Elżbieta Sąsiadek-Andrzejczak, PhD, Eng. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Informatics and Chemistry of Polymer Materials and member of the DosLab Research Group, gave an interview to Materials (MDPI).
The interview discusses their Title Story paper “Two-Dimensional UVA Dose Mapping Using a TTC-Pluronic F-127 Hydrogel Dosimeter” (Materials 2026, 19(13), 2757). The paper describes a non-toxic hydrogel dosimeter that changes colour irreversibly under UVA radiation and can be used to map dose distribution in two dimensions with a flatbed scanner. The study found that dose deviations in commonly used irradiation chambers may reach several tens of per cent. This makes the system useful for validating such equipment, as well as for quality control of cosmetic devices, dermatology and UV resistance testing of materials.
The interview also looks at future trends in dosimetry: digital readout, artificial intelligence, miniaturisation and sustainable materials. It stresses that proper calibration matters, because a visually attractive dose map is not necessarily an accurate one.
